Lárus Orri Sgiurðsson has been appointed as the head coach of the men's senior team at ÍA, taking over from Jón Þór Hauksson. At 52 years old, Lárus is a former professional footballer and national team player, having grown up in Akranes and played for ÍA's youth teams before moving to Akureyri. He enjoyed a decade-long professional career in England with clubs including Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion, playing in both the Championship and Premier League, and has represented Iceland in 42 senior international matches. This marks Lárus's third coaching role in Icelandic football, previously managing Þór and KF.
