Las Hermanas Mirabal, known as the Mirabal Sisters, were Dominican activists who became symbols of resistance against the Trujillo regime. They were imprisoned and ultimately assassinated for their opposition, becoming martyrs for the fight for human rights and democracy in the Dominican Republic.
