Augusto Leguía was a prominent Peruvian politician who served as the President of Peru during two non-consecutive terms in the early to mid-20th century, notably from 1908 to 1912 and again from 1919 to 1930. His administration is often associated with significant economic modernization and infrastructure development, including the establishment of a more structured monetary policy. However, his time in office also faced criticism for authoritarian tendencies and political repression.
