Leide das Neves Ferreira was a six-year-old girl who became a tragic symbol of the Goiânia accident, one of the worst radiological disasters in history, after she died from radiation exposure to cesium-137 in 1987. Her untimely death, along with that of three other victims, highlighted the dangers of radioactive materials and the consequences of negligence in handling them.
