Lena Vurma

Lena Vurma is a Swiss filmmaker known for her fascination with surrealism, sparked by her encounter with Leonora Carrington's self-portrait in her youth. Alongside her creative partner Thor Klein, she has dedicated the past decade to creating 'Leonora', a biopic based on Elena Poniatowska's novel about the British artist who spent much of her life in Mexico. Vurma's passion for Carrington's work reflects her desire to explore themes of spirituality and female creativity in contemporary society.
