Leo Ryan

Leo Ryan was an American politician and member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California. Born on May 5, 1925, in Lincoln, Nebraska, he served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and was known for his investigation into the People's Temple cult, which ultimately led to his assassination in Guyana in 1978. His tragic death, alongside several others, occurred while he was trying to expose human rights abuses within the cult, highlighting the dangers faced by those who challenge extremist groups.
