Léo Vieira
Léo Vieira is the mayor of São João de Meriti, Brazil, affiliated with the Republican Party. He began his political career in 2012 when he ran for city council and later became a state deputy in the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) after being elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. He has been involved in local politics and served as the president of the Education Commission during his tenure in the municipal council. Recently, he was in the news after being detained by the Federal Highway Police for allegedly driving a vehicle with altered license plates and for having a large sum of cash, reportedly R$ 100,000, in his car.
