León de Asís
León de Asís, also known as Brother Leo, was a close companion of Saint Francis of Assisi during the latter years of the saint's life. He served as Francis's secretary and confessor, accompanying him from 1220 until Francis's death in 1226. León was deeply involved in the early Franciscan movement and defended the humble ideals of the order against financial pressures. He is best remembered for his writings, including the 'Dialogues on Perfect Joy' with Francis and for being present during the creation of the 'Canticle of the Creatures.' León passed away in 1271, leaving a legacy intertwined with the teachings and life of Saint Francis.
