Lesley Rameka

Dr. Lesley Rameka is a prominent educator and advocate for Māori language and culture in New Zealand. With a focus on early childhood education, she has dedicated her career to developing resources and frameworks that support Māori concepts and values in teaching. Rameka's work includes being a project coordinator for Te Whatu Pōkeka, a Kaupapa Māori assessment for learning initiative. Her research has significantly influenced Māori and Pacific children's educational experiences, emphasizing a Māori worldview in assessment practices. Recently, she was honored as a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit during the King's Birthday Honours for her contributions to education and her efforts in articulating the voices of Māori communities.
