Lessie Randle

Lessie Randle is recognized as one of the last surviving witnesses of the Tulsa Race Massacre, which occurred in 1921 in Oklahoma. This tragic event saw a white mob attack the prosperous Black community of Greenwood, resulting in widespread destruction and loss of life. Born just six months after Viola Fletcher, Randle is currently 111 years old and has become a living testament to the horrors of racial violence in American history. Following the death of Fletcher, Randle remains one of the few individuals who can recount the events of that fateful day, making her an important figure in the ongoing discussions about racial injustice and historical memory.
