Ļevs Rubinšteins

Ļevs Rubinšteins (1947–2024) was a prominent Russian poet, literary researcher, and publicist, known for his key role in the conceptualist movement of underground Soviet poetry during the 1970s. His unique approach to poetry often involved a flat, mechanical language that aimed to represent collective consciousness rather than individual experiences. Rubinšteins' radical work 'Tas esmu es' (1995) exemplified his distinctive style, blending personal memories with fragments of conversation and bibliographic references. He was an outspoken critic of totalitarian regimes, participating in anti-government protests and advocating for freedom of expression.
