Lilian Căldărari

Lilian Căldărari was an eight-year-old boy from Chișinău, Moldova, who became paralyzed following complications from general anesthesia administered during a dental procedure in 2011. After suffering a cardiac arrest during the anesthesia, he was left in a vegetative state for over a decade, requiring constant care before passing away in July 2022. His case became a focal point in a legal battle against the Moldovan government, ultimately leading to a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights that condemned the state for failing to adequately investigate the medical negligence.
