
Livia Fränkel
Livia Fränkel was a Holocaust survivor born in 1927 in Sighet, Hungary. She, along with her sister Hédi Fried, endured the horrors of Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen during World War II. After being liberated, they arrived in Sweden in 1945, where Livia dedicated her life to sharing her experiences of the Holocaust, serving as the chairperson of the Association of Holocaust Survivors. She was honored with the Illis quorum medal in 2017 for her advocacy work. Livia was known for her poignant storytelling, emphasizing the importance of remembering the Holocaust and its lessons for future generations. She passed away at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and remembrance.
