
Lluís Companys
Lluís Companys was a prominent Catalan politician and leader of the Generalitat of Catalonia during the Spanish Civil War. He is remembered for his efforts to defend Catalan autonomy and democratic values against the rising tide of fascism in Spain. Companys was arrested and executed by the Franco regime after the war, and he remains a symbol of resistance and Catalan nationalism.
