Lol Kin Castañeda Badillo

Lol Kin Castañeda Badillo is a prominent Mexican LGBTQ+ activist and pioneer in the fight for marriage equality in Mexico. Her activism was deeply influenced by her personal experiences as a lesbian woman, particularly the challenges she faced in securing legal recognition for her relationship with her partner, Judith Vázquez. Raised in an academically rich environment with anthropologist parents, she became acutely aware of social justice issues from a young age. Castañeda played a crucial role in advocating for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Mexico City, which was achieved in 2010, making it the first city in Latin America to do so. Beyond marriage equality, she continues to fight for broader LGBTQ+ rights and works to ensure that all families, regardless of structure, are recognized and supported by legal systems.
