Lorne Green was a Canadian actor and radio personality, best known for his role as Ben Cartwright on the television series Bonanza. He gained fame for his deep, resonant voice and was also a successful narrator, notably for the National Film Board of Canada's documentary short film Churchill’s Island, which won the first Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film in 1941.
