
Louis II
Louis II of Monaco was the sovereign prince of Monaco from 1922 until his death in 1949. He was known for his efforts to modernize the principality and for his passion for the arts and culture. Louis II was instrumental in establishing the Monte Carlo Casino and the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. His reign also saw the expansion of the Monte Carlo Grand Prix. He was a collector of art and historical artifacts, notably amassing a significant collection of Napoleonic memorabilia, some of which were auctioned off in 2015.
