Lucenda Schmidt

Lucenda Schmidt is the head of the EBGS primary school in the village of Botopasi, located in Boven-Suriname. With 28 years of experience in the education sector, she has been a dedicated advocate for improving educational conditions in remote areas. In a recent interview, Schmidt highlighted the persistent challenges faced by schools in the interior of Suriname, such as the lack of teachers and educational resources. She emphasized the importance of starting the school year on time and expressed optimism that the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture is working on solutions to these issues.
