Luis Armando Mota

Luis Armando Mota was a community leader and former candidate for mayor of Tiquisate, Escuintla, who was tragically murdered during a local school festival on September 7, 2025. He was known for his active role in the community as the president of the Consejo Comunitario de Desarrollo (Cocode) for El Arisco and had previously run for mayor in the 2023 elections, finishing a close second. His assassination, which occurred in front of children and families, has sparked outrage and concern about safety and political violence in the region.
