Luisa Otoya, born on March 7, 1857, was the daughter of Peruvian economist Francisco Otoya and became a notable figure in Costa Rica's history after her untimely death in 1893, which inspired a marble sculpture created by Eloy Palacios that now rests in the General Cemetery of San José.
