Luz Elena Castillo Sequeira

Luz Elena Castillo Sequeira, known as La Nica de Hierro, was a renowned ultramarathon runner from Costa Rica who gained acclaim for her extraordinary endurance and determination in long-distance races. Born in 1987, she was raised in Nicaragua where she pursued a degree in Systems Engineering. She made headlines by conquering 10 volcanoes in just 10 days and participated in numerous endurance events across Central America and beyond. Her unexpected passing in San Joaquín de Flores has left the athletics community in mourning.
