Lydia Mkandawire

Lydia Mkandawire is the Division Crops Officer for the Kasungu Agriculture Development Division (ADD) in Malawi. She has been a vocal advocate for the empowerment of frontline agricultural workers, emphasizing the crucial role they play in the food system. Recently, she praised the collaborative efforts of the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) for providing training aimed at enhancing the capabilities of those who work directly with farmers. Mkandawire believes that understanding the full spectrum of the food system—from production to marketing—is essential for supporting farmers effectively, especially in the face of climate change and agricultural challenges.
