Lyubov Lobunets

Lyubov Lobunets, 77, is a former nurse who was forced to evacuate her home in Kupiansk, Ukraine, after her building was struck by an explosive. She recounted her harrowing experience of being trapped in a burning five-storey building, from which she was ultimately rescued by the Ukrainian military. Lobunets reflects on the slow decline of her city, which had a prewar population of 27,000 and is now largely deserted due to ongoing conflict and destruction.
