Maada Bio

Maada Bio is the current President of Sierra Leone and has taken on the role of Chairperson of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as of June 2023. He is recognized for his leadership during a pivotal time for the regional bloc, which is facing significant challenges, including the withdrawal of several member states and ongoing issues of political instability and insecurity. In his acceptance speech, Bio emphasized his commitment to restoring constitutional order, deepening democracy, and revitalizing regional security cooperation, aiming to navigate ECOWAS through its next 50 years.
