Maj Hamza Al-Mustapha
Maj Hamza Al-Mustapha, a retired military officer, served as the Chief Security Officer to former Nigerian dictator General Sani Abacha. He was implicated in the assassination of Kudirat Abiola, the wife of the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election, MKO Abiola. Al-Mustapha was convicted of murder in 2012 but had his conviction overturned by the Court of Appeal in 2013, citing weak evidence. His case has been a focal point in Nigeria's struggle for justice and accountability, and he was recently back in the news after the Lagos State Government abandoned its appeal against his acquittal.
