Manuel Coloch

Manuel Coloch is the director of the Rabinal Achí dance group, a traditional Maya performance that has been recognized as part of Guatemala's cultural heritage. He has been instrumental in the preservation and promotion of this ancient dance drama, which narrates historical events from the 15th century. Recently, he discussed the challenges faced by the group in renewing their costumes and securing participation due to economic constraints. Coloch's efforts were highlighted when the Instituto Guatemalteco de Turismo provided new costumes, enabling the group to prepare for the upcoming performance scheduled for January 25, 2026, during the patron saint festivities of San Pablo in Rabinal.
