Marc Maresceau

Marc Maresceau was a distinguished professor at the University of Ghent and a prominent expert in European Union law and foreign policy. He played a crucial role in shaping the relationship between Andorra and the EU, starting from the late 1980s when he began advising the Andorran government during negotiations for a customs union with the European Economic Community. Renowned for his ability to navigate complex legal matters, Maresceau provided consistent support to Andorran politicians and officials, contributing to the stability and effectiveness of their negotiations with the EU. His expertise and commitment earned him the respect of many in Andorra, with former officials praising his dedication to advocating for the interests of small states. He passed away on October 27, 2023, at the age of 77.
