Marcella Di Folco was a pioneering trans activist and the first transgender woman in the world to hold an elected office, serving on the Bologna City Council in 1995. She was a prominent figure in the LGBTQI+ community and contributed significantly to the fight for LGBTQI+ rights in Italy. Di Folco was also known for her career in acting, having appeared in Federico Fellini's film 'Amarcord' as the famous character, the Prince of Gradisca.
