
Marcelo Beraba
Marcelo Beraba was a prominent Brazilian journalist, known as one of the founders and the first president of the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji). He began his career in 1971 at the newspaper O Globo and made significant contributions to journalism in Brazil, especially in police reporting during the military dictatorship. He was notable for breaking major stories, including exclusive images of a military-related surgery that contributed to the country's democratic transition. Beraba worked for several major publications, including Folha de S. Paulo, Jornal do Brasil, and Estadão, and he continued to influence journalism until his retirement in 2019. He passed away at the age of 74 after battling brain cancer.
