Marcelo Pérez del Castillo was the captain of the Old Christians rugby team and a key figure in the harrowing survival story of the Andes plane crash in 1972, where he played a leadership role among the survivors and tragically lost his life in an avalanche during their 72 days stranded in the mountains.
