Marcelo Sperle

Marcelo Sperle is an oceanographer and professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (Uerj). He specializes in the study of marine phenomena and has contributed significantly to understanding coastal dynamics, particularly in relation to extreme weather events such as cyclones and their impact on sea levels and wave behavior. Recently, he provided insights into the strong ocean swells affecting Rio de Janeiro, linking them to a distant extratropical cyclone rather than a tsunami generated by a seismic event in Russia.
