Marco Bonamico, known as 'il Marine', was a celebrated Italian basketball player who passed away at the age of 68. Born in Genoa on January 18, 1957, he was a key figure in Italian basketball during the 1970s and 1980s, earning 154 caps for the national team and winning an Olympic silver medal in 1980. Bonamico was a prominent player for Virtus Bologna, where he won two Italian championships and two Coppa Italia titles. He was also known for his long-range shooting skills, particularly during the early days of the three-point line. After retiring, he continued to contribute to basketball as a commentator and president of Legadue.
