Marco Confortola
Marco Confortola is an accomplished Italian mountaineer from Valtellina, born in 1971. He is renowned for summiting all 14 of the world's highest peaks, known as the 'Eight-thousanders,' without supplemental oxygen. Confortola gained notoriety after surviving a harrowing night on K2 in 2009, where a serac collapse resulted in the deaths of 11 climbers and led to amputations of his toes. Recently, he has been in the news due to allegations from fellow climber Simone Moro, who claims that Confortola has presented doctored summit photos and has not actually reached certain peaks, prompting a public dispute between the two alpinists.
