Marcus Mosiah Garvey was a Jamaican political leader, publisher, journalist, and orator who became a national hero of Jamaica. He is best known for his contributions to the Pan-Africanism movement and for founding the Universal Negro Improvement Association, which aimed to uplift people of African descent worldwide.
