Mareshell Wauchope

Mareshell Wauchope is a dedicated conservation ecologist and PhD candidate at the University of Sydney, actively involved in innovative rewilding efforts aimed at repelling invasive rat species from urban bushland. In her recent fieldwork, she has successfully captured and assessed native bush rats, known as boguls, which are being reintroduced as part of a groundbreaking strategy to restore ecological balance in Sydney's nature reserves. Wauchope's research challenges long-held beliefs about native species' vulnerabilities and highlights their potential as effective allies in combating invasive threats.
