Margarita Tereza

Margarita Tereza (1651-1673) was a Spanish infanta, the daughter of King Philip IV of Spain and Mariana of Austria. Born into a politically motivated marriage, she became the wife of her uncle, Emperor Leopold I of the Holy Roman Empire, in an effort to maintain dynastic bloodlines. Her life was marked by tragedy, as she suffered multiple failed pregnancies and the loss of her children, which contributed to her declining health and mental state. Despite her royal status, Margarita faced challenges in the court and struggled with her identity and the expectations placed upon her. She died at the young age of 21, leaving a legacy intertwined with the complexities of royal lineage and the pressures of her time.
