Maria Berenice Dias

A prominent Brazilian jurist, Maria Berenice Dias made history as the first woman to enter the judiciary in Rio Grande do Sul. She currently serves as the vice-president of the Brazilian Institute of Family Law (Ibdfam) and has been a vocal advocate for the rights of families, particularly in the area of paternity recognition. As a member of the Commission for the Review and Update of the Civil Code, she has contributed significantly to proposed legal changes aimed at simplifying the recognition of paternity in Brazil.
