María del Carmen Bonilla Chavarría

María del Carmen Bonilla Chavarría, affectionately known as Lía, was a renowned folklorist born on November 21, 1920, in Santa Cruz de Guanacaste. She dedicated her life to promoting and preserving Guanacaste's cultural heritage, with a notable career that included teaching and expertise in ballet and choreography. Her contributions to the arts earned her recognition, including her role as a representative for Costa Rica on the Council of Dance for UNESCO in 1974.
