María Florinda Ríos Pérez de Velázquez

María Florinda Ríos Pérez de Velázquez was a 32-year-old Guatemalan woman originally from Quetzaltenango. She had migrated to the United States with her family in search of better opportunities. Tragically, she lost her life due to a gunshot wound while she and her husband were mistakenly at the wrong house for a cleaning job in Whitestown, Indiana, on November 5, 2023. Her death, ruled a homicide, has drawn attention to the circumstances surrounding the incident, raising questions about safety and justice for her surviving family, including four young children.
