Maria Handke

Maria Handke, born Sivec, was a Carinthian Slovenian who had a significant influence on her son, the renowned writer Peter Handke. Her storytelling, rich with emotional depth, left a lasting impression on him during his formative years. Tragically, she struggled with depression and took her own life in 1972, which profoundly impacted Peter's writing career.
