Maria I
Maria I of England, also known as Mary Tudor, was the first queen regnant of England, reigning from 1553 until her death in 1558. She is often remembered for her attempt to restore Roman Catholicism in England and her infamous marriage to Philip II of Spain. In 1555, she became the subject of public intrigue due to her belief that she was pregnant, which later turned out to be a case of pseudociesis, a psychological condition where a woman believes she is pregnant and exhibits physical symptoms without an actual fetus.
