María Inés Olmedo

María Inés Olmedo is the director of the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children, Girls, and Adolescents (Codeni) in San Lorenzo, Paraguay. She has been actively involved in child welfare issues and has highlighted concerns regarding child labor and safety in her community. In November 2025, she gained attention after discovering Tobías Suárez, a missing child who had been swept away by floodwaters, working on the street at night selling food. Olmedo emphasized the risks associated with child street work and the potential for child exploitation, while also addressing the lack of awareness among parents about the dangers of such activities.
