Mária Koránová
Mária Koránová is a Slovak economist and whistleblower known for her courageous stance against corruption in the Slovak healthcare system. In 2017, she raised concerns about irregularities in the tender process for ambulance rentals in Košice, which led her to report the issues to the police in 2019. Despite being granted protected whistleblower status, she faced retaliation and was wrongfully dismissed in 2021. Recently, the Krajský court ruled in her favor, declaring her dismissal invalid, a landmark decision that highlights the protection of whistleblowers in Slovakia.
