Maria Mercedes Azuero

Maria Mercedes Azuero, 56, is a dedicated endodontist and an avid runner who has been living in Bogotá for the past 30 years. Originally from Cali, she has a passion for outdoor activities and has been hiking the trails of Quebrada La Vieja for over 16 years. Recently, she made headlines after experiencing a traumatic robbery and kidnapping incident while exercising with her son in the eastern hills of Bogotá. Despite the harrowing experience, Azuero's resilience and determination to advocate for safety in outdoor spaces have resonated with many in her community.
