Maria Plyta

Maria Plyta (1915-1976) was a pioneering Greek film director, recognized as the first woman to direct films in Greece. She began her career in 1950 with the film 'Engagements' and went on to direct 17 films, often addressing themes of gender and social class. Despite her significant contributions to cinema, Plyta's work has remained largely undocumented until recent efforts aimed at preserving her legacy.
