Maria Zhodik
Maria Zhodik is a Belarusian high jumper from Baranovichi who has gained international attention for her athletic prowess and her outspoken stance against political repression in Belarus. At 28 years old, she recently won her first medal at a prestigious athletics competition, clearing a height of 1.93 meters. Zhodik is known for signing an open letter condemning the falsification of elections in Belarus and the violence against protesters in 2020, as well as her criticism of Russia's aggression towards Ukraine. Currently training with the Podlasie Białystok club in Poland, she has also acquired Polish citizenship and previously competed in the Tokyo Olympics.
