Marián Gaj

Marián Gaj is a former mayor of the Košice district of Sever and a former city council member. He recently sought the position of chief auditor for the Staré Mesto district of Košice, a role that has been vacant since the death of his predecessor, Roman Pillár. Gaj, who has no university degree but extensive experience in local politics and auditing, emphasized that the election for the auditor is influenced more by political agreements than by expertise. He has faced legal challenges in the past, including a conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol in 2021.
