Mariano Ignacio Prado

Mariano Ignacio Prado was a prominent Peruvian politician and military leader who served as the President of Peru during two non-consecutive terms in the late 19th century, from 1876 to 1880. He initially held a dictatorial role from 1865 to 1868 and is known for his controversial decision to leave the country during the War of the Pacific to oversee military procurements, which many viewed as an act of irresponsibility. His legacy continued through his descendants, who played significant roles in Peruvian politics, including his son Manuel Prado Ugarteche, who also served as President.
