Mariela Cares

Mariela Cares, a 39-year-old revenue manager for Barceló hotel chain, is the only Argentine resident in Cabo Verde, where she has embraced the local culture and the vibrant spirit of the islands. Originally from Las Heras, Mendoza, Mariela relocated to Praia in February 2025 for work. She has quickly fallen in love with Cabo Verde's friendly atmosphere, beautiful landscapes, and rich musical heritage, which is epitomized by the legendary Cesaria Evora. As an enthusiast of local football, she has witnessed the nation's growing passion for the sport, especially after their qualification for the World Cup. Mariela appreciates the peaceful lifestyle and warm hospitality of the Cape Verdean people, as well as the stunning beaches and idyllic climate that make her new home a paradise.
