Marija Helēna Kenda
Marija Helēna Kenda is a curator and art critic focused on socially psychological themes, exploring the complexities of social structures and identity. She has recently adopted more intuitive curatorial approaches, creating poetic combinations of artists' works connected by formal similarities and the use of mythological and archetypal motifs. Currently, Kenda works as a project manager at the Tallinn Art Hall and has previously served as a curator and project manager at the Estonian Contemporary Art Museum (EKKM). In 2021, she received art criticism grants from both the Estonian Contemporary Art Centre and the Estonian Association of Art Scholars and Curators. Her recent exhibition projects include 'Trigger' (2024), 'The Laugh of the Medusa' (2023), and 'ars viva 2022 – agents of perception' (2022). Kenda studied cinema, theatre, and media studies at the University of Vienna and holds a bachelor's degree in cultural theory and comparative literature from Tallinn University, currently pursuing a master's in curatorial studies at the Estonian Academy of Arts.
